Queen Autographs - fakes given away by the official Queen fan club

Having seen and studied thousands of Queen autographs, either with certificates or without them, I can now safely say that fans should NOT trust the official Queen fan club at all. The official fan club was faking Queen autographs from ~1984 until Freddie's death, they issue a "certificate authenticity" even for very ugly fakes etc. This section will focus on all these issues.

Fake autographs by the official fan club: 1984 - 1991

The demand for Queen autographs was very high. It reached its peak in the 80's and the fan club was receiving hundreds of requests for Queen autographs. Around 1984 the fan club started to spread fake autographs. These were sent for free to Queen fans who asked for them. The good thing is that the fan club had absolutely no profit from them - and the bad thing is that nowadays there are thousands of fakes out there and fans are paying hundreds of dollars for them because they think they're genuine... Luckily these can be recognized very easily - in fact neither of the four autographs looks good, they're all really bad. Funnily enough, Jacky from the fanclub now agrees that they are fake - so why did she send these fakes to the fans in the 80's?

Dubious autographs from the Miracle era: 1988 - 1991

This has been quite a big mystery for me - and it still is. Many autographs from the Miracle era look significantly different from others. Especially Brian's and John's look really bad. On the other hand, Freddie's and Roger's look quite good. I was hesitating a long time, then I joined forces with an expert and a long-time collector of Queen autographs and he has assured me that these are fake. Well... I won't say a 100% conclusion. I THINK these are fake but I wouldn't bet my money on that :-) Time to hire a graphologist, I guess...

Other fake autographs given away by the fan club

I have no idea who faked these, they're different from the typical fan club fakes - but they also look really ugly :-) Anyway, these were also given away by the fan club. The postcard was signed in late 80's, the WATC CD single in early 90's.

100% fake autographs marked as genuine by the fan club

And this final section will prove how worthless the official fan club certificates are - they were issued for almost all autographs, no matter if they were genuine or fake! I'm afraid to say that Jacky is NOT able to recognize a genuine Queen autographs from a fake one! The first picture shows a set of really bad fakes with a fan club certificate. The second picture shows the worst fakes I've ever seen - and when my friend asked Jacky about them, her reply was "This looks fine to me" (!!!). Can you believe that? The third photo comes from a well known faker on eBay, yet Jacky marked it as 100% genuine.

Why should I trust QueenAutographs.com and not the fan club?

  • we're not associated with Queen, we don't have to be 100% loyal => we have no reason to lie!
  • we haven't spread any fake autographs in the past, we don't have to cover up our actions
  • if you think the signatures above are genuine, you need an eye surgery or brain transplantation!!!
  • most fan clubs of huge bands fake signatures... but that's not an excuse for making idiots of us!
